え and エ

Pronunciation

“E” in Exercise.

When written in Roman characters, or romaji as it’s referred to in Japanese, these characters are represented with “e”. They sound like the “e” in “exercise” though.

え Memorization Story

The hiragana version of え looks like someone with long hair, and giant feet E-XERCISING by doing a Naruto run.

エ Memorization Story

The katakana エ is easy. It’s a dumbbell, used for E-XERCISE.
