The hiragana よ is a hand holding a yo-yo string, with the loop being the actual yo-yo down below. Or perhaps looping the yo-yo string into some tricks.

よ is another hiragana that many people get the stroke order wrong on. The little horizontal line is drawn first, angled SLIGHTLY up to the right. Keep the loop on the bottom smooshed, just like the one in は and ほ. Think, MOCHI!
