Pronunciation

“KI” in Key.

These characters also look similar to each other, and fortunately they are quite easy to remember. They represent the “Ki” sound in the English word “Key”.

To make the hiragana き look nice, write the first 2 strokes with a slight upward angle, and slash the vertical stroke through them almost diagonally, as opposed to straight up and down.
