む and ム

Pronunciation

“MU” sound in the "Moo" of a cow.

む Memorization Story

The hiragana む is the HEAD of a COW, Moo’ing… obviously. The little dot on the right is the "Mooo" speech bubble.

ム Memorization Story

The katakana ム on the other hand, is that COW’s ARM holding a bottle of milk, and moo’ing every time he lifts it up to take a drink.

Writing

The hiragana む is kind of like a す if you made a bucket on the bottom right, instead of sweeping to the left on the second stroke. That means you may see the loop being somewhat triangular in writing.
