ち and チ

Pronunciation

“CHI” sound in Cheese.

ち Memorization Story

The hiragana ち looks like a person measuring a huge wheel of cheese by stretching out their arms.

チ Memorization Story

The katakana チ on the other hand, looks like the same person with a French beret on his head, all happy about all the cheese he’s received. No, he did not have legs.

By the way, Cheese is said チーズ in Japanese, but we haven’t learned about the sound ZU yet, so we’ll get to that later in the video.

Writing

Unlike with き and さ, in writing, the bottom loop in ち is connected, just like in the font.
