ゆ and ユ
Pronunciation
“YU” sound in "You".
ゆ Memorization Story
The hiragana ゆ appears commonly at the entrance to public baths, because, in Japanese, a hot bath, or hot water can be JUST “ゆ” though it is often said as “おゆ”. With that said, the hiragana ゆ actually reminds me of a FISH… Just imagine this one swimming in おゆ.
ユ Memorization Story
The katakana on the other hand is what YOU look like SWIMMING in おゆ. Just, please don’t actually do this if you ever go to a public bath in Japan…
Writing
It can be a little difficult to draw the hiragana ゆ nicely, but try to keep the height of your loop about the same height as the “TAIL” of the fish. And the line through the middle should be curved back to the left a bit after going through the loop. To practice, you could draw a nice bit circle first, and try and make the circle of ゆ take up the entire space. In other words, it’s much rounder in writing, than in most computer fonts.
